Our History - تاريخنا

The society was established in 1965 under the Construction and Development Department of the Ministry of Social Affairs at that time. The founding members, numbering 24, contributed a capital of 800 Jordanian Dinars. Following its establishment, the society obtained a bank loan of 10,000 Jordanian Dinars. A building was purchased in the Al Misdar / Al Ashrafieh area, with part of it serving as the society's headquarters. Additionally, the Ministry of Education leased a portion of the building as a school, and (4) commercial stores were rented out, along with a health center affiliated with the Ministry of Health.

 

In the early seventies, the society acquired a piece of land in the Jabal Amman-Fifth Circle area. A building was constructed on the land after securing a loan of 100,000 Jordanian Dinars from the Cooperative Organization at the time. The building included the society's headquarters, an events hall, furnished apartments, and commercial stores. The borrowed amount was repaid on schedule.

 

In the early nineties, the society purchased the land on which its current headquarters is situated, covering an area of 4000m2. This space is utilized for various social events. During this same period, the society bought another piece of land in Al Siru / Salt area, spanning approximately 12000m2 through self-financing. In addition, the society established a private cemetery for family members in Safout area, covering an area of approximately 2500m2, as well as a church.

 

As of December 31, 2022, the paid-up capital of the subscribed shares amounts to 1,477,398 Jordanian Dinars, while number of members is 750. The actual value of the society's assets is estimated at 15 million Jordanian Dinars.

 

The society provides interest-free study loans during the study period and grants financial advances to its members when needed. It also offers social assistance (donations) to family members in need. In cases of death and during the three-day mourning period, the society assists family members with necessary services. Furthermore, the society serves the local community by providing its facilities to those in need and supporting non-family students through donations.
